Horses Rock Membership Meeting

Time: 7:00-8:00 pm

Draft of Minutes

These minutes will be submitted for approval on December 7, 2009.

As president, Hannah McVaney called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Elyse Runkle led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge.

Our secretary, Wendy Snowden, took attendance .There were 9 high school members, 3 middle school members, and 3 elementary school members present making a total of 15 members.

Elena told us about the horse show on November 1st.

We talked about the shoe boxes that we would fill with Christmas presents for children in need. We also discussed the Barnes and Noble bookstore fund raiser for next spring.

Guest Speaker

Our guest speaker was Mr. John Neyer. He talked about Egyptian Arabian horse.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.

These minutes will be submitted for approval at the next membership meeting on October 5, 2009.

As president Hannah McVaney called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm.

The Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge were said.

Brooke Rigby gave the treasury report. Our current balance is $1,273

 


v  We introduced the officers to our new members and vice versa, informed everyone about the weekly riding lessons at Signal Hill on Wednesdays and the Vet Science Project.

v  We also discussed the Individual Achievement Plan – everyone chooses what they personally want to achieve in order to work towards specific awards.

v  Everyone needs to enroll on 4-H connect if they haven't done so already

Program/Recreation

We played a game in which one person at a time stood up and stated their name, age, and favorite thing to do. Everyone else in the room who had something in common with them also stood up.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

These minutes will be submitted for approval at the next membership meeting, which will be on June 8, 2009.

As president Kaitlyn Shaheen called the meeting to order.

Elena Enno led the pledge of allegiance and the 4-h pledge.

As secretary Helenna Snowden took attendance and noted that there were no elementary members, 6 middle school members, and 2 high school members.

The bank balance was $3,035.49.

 

Committee Reports

 

Community Service Committee:

Elena Enno told us that there will be a trash pick-up on May 30.

 

Social/Recreational Committee:

Holly Carson talked about the 4-H retreat and banquet, which will be held at her house on May 15th . Members can stay overnight for the retreat and officer elections.

Holly Carson also gave an overview of what the different officer positions entail and introduced several new reporter positions.

We will also have a two-horse trailer donated to us.

We discussed the Wrangler and High School rodeos as some of our members will be attending them.

We may also receive permission to attach a screen to the ceiling of the old school house for projections.

The last 4-H meeting will be held on June 8.

As president Kaitlyn Shaheen called the meeting to order at 7:10

The Pledge of allegiance and the 4-H Pledge were said

As substitute secretary, Elena Enno read last meeting's minutes and they were approved.

Mary-Grace Horne gave the treasury report for the Play Day. We grossed $2,126

Committee Reports

Social/Recreational Committee:

The Retreat will be on May 15th and will be overnight. Dena McVaney said that we can Kayak in Mud Cove. Our Special Speaker is Rupert Isaacson. Caitlin Petras will send invitations to Mr. and Mrs. Carville, Mr. and Mrs. DeGroot and Corey Talley. Lucy will give one to Kathy Slack.

Corey Talley will also be there and parents can come at the end of the day so they can meet with her.

         Registrations for district and state 4-H shows are due by May 1st .  There is a $10.00 fee. Participants should sign up at 4-H Connect.

Program:

There was a presentation from TETRA by Kelley Boeson and Geri Bishoff. They told us that TETRA is a volunteer organization and that they develop and keep trails open for Equine activities.

These minutes will be submitted for approval at the next membership meeting on April 13, 2009.

As president Kaitlyn Shaheen called the meeting to order

In the interest of time we skipped the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge.

Our Secretary, Helenna Snowden, took attendance and noted that there were 3 elementary members,  6 elementary members, and 2 high school members, adding to a total of 11 members.

Helenna read the minutes from the last meeting and they were approved.

Hannah introduced our new member, Marie Claire.

We skipped to the program.

Program :

Our visitor Mrs. Jennifer Young gave a presentation on physical therapy using horses. She told us that she could use some volunteers and anyone who wanted to should contact her. Volunteering would include leading horses, putting kids on horses, and washing horses.

 

Social/Recreational Committee:

The Play-Day will be held on April 11th.

We will have an engraved buckle as one of the Prizes.

The banquet and the retreat will be held on May 15th

 

The fundraiser will be extended until May 1 because Mary Grace was the only person who raised any money. For this she received 2 tickets to the Lippizzaner show

Holly Carson gave out prizes to those who had completed that month's website scavenger hunt  

Continuation of Program:

Helenna did a presentation on how to estimate a horse's body weight

As president, Kaitlyn Shaheen called the meeting to order

We said the 4-H pledge and the Pledge of Allegiance

Our secretary, Helenna Snowden, took roll and when called on members were asked to say a few sentences about the 4-H projects they are involved in. There were 3 elementary members, 2 middle school members, and 4 high school members present, adding to a total of 9 members.

Helenna read the minutes and they were approved

Hannah introduced our new member, Elise Taute

There was no treasury report

Committee Reports

Community Service Report:

Holly and Kaitlyn told us about the trash pick-up at 10:00 am on February 21

Help is also still needed at D-Ranch to put up the poles for the lights and to build a trail-riding course

At our March meeting we will have a guest speaker who will tell us about working with disabled children and horses

Recreational and Social Committee:

The Highland retreat will be held from April 24th to April 26th

The retreat costs $26 per night and $6.50 per meal, so we may spend the nights at Holly's house and go to the retreat during the day to save money

Hannah called for volunteers to help her plan the retreat in more detail. Volunteers are also needed to help organize the banquet and the Play-Day, which is on April 4th

Hannah also told us the names of four new members. They are Jacquelyn Schellenberg, Stevie Skinner, Hannah Shirley, and Wendy Snowden. It is possible that there will be a wild horse clinic at some point. There is also an overnight trail ride at Storm Ranch

Membership Committee:

We were reminded that everyone needs to register at 4-H connect

Drill Team:

We still need more people

Horse Judging:

Kaitlin Petras got 10th place at a judging competition in Johnson City

The next competition will be in San Antonio

Vet Project:                                                                                                                                                         Kaitlyn Shaheen told us about the vet project orientation that she attended. If anyone else is interested they need to contact Holly as soon as possible.

 

Signal Hill Report:

Shannon will take pictures of our 4-H horses, Max and Reebok, and give them to Holly

 

New 4-H Horses:

There is a curly horse that may be lent to us and would stay at Holly's house

Rodeo:

Loren Swift is no longer the Drill-Team leader; she is now the Rodeo Horse Show Leader  

Fund Raiser:

Each 4-H member needs to raise $100 dollars by the next meeting.. This can be in cash, giftcards, or companies can pay for add space on our Play Day fliers or a link on our website.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    & nbsp;                    

Program:

Mary-Grace gave a presentation on how to politely ask for these donations

 

       We moved and seconded the adjourning of the meeting

As president Kaitlyn Shaheen called the meeting to order

We said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge

Our secretary, Helenna Snowden, took attendance and noted that there were 6 elementary members, 6 middle school members, and 3 high school members, adding to a grand total of 15 members.

Hannah introduced Ani Rushing, who is already enrolled in 4-H, and Hannah, who is thinking about enrolling.

There was no treasury report

Committee  Reports

Community Service Committee:

Elena and Lauren talked some more about the D-ranch cleanup and a competitive trail ride set-up

Help with setting up the poles that will be needed for the lights around the arena would also be appreciated.

At the next meeting, we will be having a guest speaker who will tell us more about working with horses and disabled children.

 

Signal Hill Committee:

We discussed ways of encouraging more members who ride at Signal Hill to attend meetings. One idea was to make it mandatory for members to attend a certain percentage of meetings.  Mary-Grace told us that the play day will probably be held in the second week of April.

 

Social/Recreational Committee:

Hannah McVaney passed out the 4-H T-Shirts

We will also be ordering sweatshirts, but it was voted that the price would be raised by a few dollars in to add to our funds. The 4-H banquet will be held at Holly Carson's house on May 16.

 

Drill Team:

Kaitlin Petras is no longer part of the Drill Team, so Kaitlyn Shaheen appointed Lauren Swift as Drill Team leader. There will also be non-drill team ride nights at D-Ranch when Eric Carville, our drill team master, is unable to come. This Sunday (January 18) there will be a non-Drill Team ride. In February drill team meetings will most likely be held on Mondays at 5:00 p.m.

 

Judging Team:

Kaitlyn Shaheen appointed Kaitlin Petras as Horse Judging team leader

On January 24 there will be a judging competition in Johnson County

 

Vet Project:

We decided that Vet Project meetings will be held every 2nd Tuesday of every month at the schoolhouse at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a parents-only meeting at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, at Mimi's and the Hill Country Galeria.

 

Horse Donations:

It is possible that we will have one or more Curley horses donated to us

 

Junior Report:

Elyse Runkle told us that our junior members  have been learning about the parts of a horse and will be learning about horse colors and markings next.

 

Program:

Elena gave a presentation on horse wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy

 

Kaitlyn Shaheen adjourned the meeting a few minutes after 8:00 p.m.
