Horses Rock 4-H Membership Meeting

Time: 7:00-8:00

Old School House

Draft of Minutes

As president, Hannah McVaney called the meeting to order at 7:00.

El led us in the pledge of allegiance and 4H pledge.

Our secretary, Wendy, took attendance and noted that there were 5 High School members, 6 Middle School members, and 2 Elementary School members, adding to a total of 13 members.

New Members

Hannah introduced 3 new members to us; Meaghan Elliot, Gabrielle Redding, and Lauren Redding.

Key Chains

At the next 4H meeting every member is required to bring horsehair as we are making beaded, horsehair key chains. Each member will make 2 or more; one to keep and the others to sell as a fundraiser at the play day. The beads and everything except the hair will be provided.

Community service

There will be a trash cleanup on Saturday January 24th.

Fundraiser

We are thinking about doing a fundraiser every 2 months or so. We could sell home baked cookies, chocolate bars baring the 4H logo, water bottles with the 4H logo, or lollipops. If you have any other ideas please share them at the next meeting.

4-H t-shirts

There will be hunter green and/or sky blue t-shirts with Jack's logo on the back and the 4-h clover on the front. If we can raise enough money we can also have sweatshirts.

Play Day

The play day will be Western themed and take place on either April 10th or April 11th. There will be a salsa making contest and the entry fee will be $25. The winner will receive half of the entry money. At the play day there will be a silent auction and we will be selling the horse hair key chains. If everyone could donate one item for the silent auction and price it that would be great. It doesn't have to be Western themed. Also, everyone is welcome to bring along their friends and family.

Signal Hill

Every Wednesday, there are 4H riding lessons at 5:30. Every week the lesson is about something different. All members are welcome to join these weekly lessons.

Hannah adjourned our meeting at 8:00.

Horses Rock Membership Meeting

Time: 7:00 to 8:00 pm

Old School House

Draft of Minutes

These minutes will be submitted for approval at the next membership meeting on January 11, 2010.

Our president, Hannah McVaney, was absent therefore our treasurer, Brooke Rigby, called our meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Brooke led us in the pledge of allegiance and 4-H pledge.

Our secretary, Wendy Snowden, took attendance.

T-shirt Logo Contest

Each 4-H member was encouraged to draw a logo they thought fit for our club. The members that were present voted for whichever logo they liked best. Jack Wylie's logo won.

Community Service

Lucy Ryan, our community service director, suggested a new community service opportunity that we could do in addition to or instead of the highway cleanup. She said we could maybe volunteer at an animal shelter which would be more enjoyable than picking up trash. Lucy suggested doing this for one year and then going back to highway cleanup. OR, since our club has to commit to doing the highway cleanup six times a year each member could commit to doing it twice a year. If someone does it more times than necessary they could receive a prize. But whichever community service idea we choose, EVERYONE HAS TO COMMIT TO DO IT!!!

Guest Speaker

Our guest speaker was Lisa Schellenburg who talked about animal nutrition.

Brooke Rigby adjourned our meeting at 8:05 pm
